Apr. 13, 2017 4:00 p.m. - 5:05 p.m.
We determined that we must meet again this Thursday afternoon, April 13, at the beautiful setting of the Yacht Club at 4 p.m. I will bring the agenda, and we will continue to work out the details for this fundraiser to be the success we need it to be. Thank you all for your efforts on behalf of our Rotary Club for our upcoming Fundraiser. The crucial next step will be to communicate this well to our members, so they can begin to invite friends and others they feel will have a heart for our Rotary projects both locally and around the world.
We have decided on a plated dinner (Prime Rib) and keeping the cost to $30/person. It is Tuesday, May 23 at the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club at 6p.m. I am hoping to have the finished mock-up of the invitation and the advertising piece that I have asked Tim Schreur to work on for us. I will not be able to be at the Thursday Rotary meeting, but will develop a sheet that should be put on the tables getting people to share with us their auction items, the proposed value of that item or items (preferably), and if people aren’t sure, to get them thinking about how they can approach businesses that they know and frequent to secure a donation to our auction. |

Saugatuck High School Interact Club Project
Apr. 20, 2017
After several trips to Haitian sugarcane cutter communities in the Dominican Republic where Saugatuck High School students focused on installing water filters and building latrines, a February 2014 trip galvanized a desire to do something more. The Saugatuck High School Interact Club will explain their plans to construct a school in Batey 106 during the summer of 2017. |

Even though I haven’t won the weekly raffle, I am buying coffee to our volunteers that can be there. Also, I am provided a stylish vest to the participants.
Please contact Mike Moraw (mike.moraw@huntington.com / 616-836-5524) if you can attend. We have had light turnouts in recent weeks. If the weekend doesn’t work, I am open to trying a Thursday 7/13 at 5pm.

Adult Drug Court
Aug. 10, 2017
Lori Varner I recently caught a presentation by Andy Brown, Adult Drug Treatment Court Coordinator, Ottawa County Drug Court, and Jacquie Johnson, Executive Director, Ottagan Addictions Recovery Inc (OAR), which would be very informative for most Rotary Club members. As you know, the Ottawa County Drug Court, 20th Circuit Court recently received national recognition, with the Department of Justice saying that it is one of the best in the country. www.hollandsentinel.com/news/20170307/ottawa-county-drug-court-recognized-by-department-of-justice Andy Brown did an exceptionally fine job of explaining why certain drugs are so addictive, and why the Drug Court program is winning awards. Jacquie Johnson shared OAR’s recovery programs and Priscilla Shafor, Recovery Coach, who works with the Drug Court and OAR explains the Drug Court process to rehabilitating addicts. The program is not only informative, it can be helpful to those parents who may be attempting to deal with a family member who is wrestling with addiction.
