Rotary Foundation

The Rotary Foundation is the world’s largest private charitable foundation. It is unique in that 100% of donations go directly to the foundation’s charitable and humanitarian projects around the world. Donations are held for three years before being distributed, and the Foundation’s administrative costs are funded solely from the interest earned during that time.

Since its founding in 1919, the Rotary Foundation has given hundreds of millions of dollars and volunteers’ hours to charitable and humanitarian aid worldwide, most notable the Polio Plus Project, in which rotary partnered with the World Health Organization to pay for, transport, and administer polio vaccine to every child on Earth, in order to wipe out polio forever. As a result of this project, polio has been eliminated from the Western Hemisphere, with worldwide success expected by 2000. Holland Rotary raised over $100,000. toward the Polio Plus Project.

Holland Rotary participates actively in the Rotary Foundation, primarily through the donation of Paul Harris Fellowships. Named for the founder of Rotary International, the Paul Harris Fellowship is given to any individual who has donated $1,000. or more to the Rotary Foundation. Holland Rotary is considered a “10,000% Club,” with more than 250 Paul Harris Fellowships having been donated.
